Where in Japan was James Bond filmed?
The village of Bonotsucho Akime was where Bond and his Ama wife lived and where the Ama scenes were shot. The ryokan Shigetomi-so (now known as Shimazu Shigetomisoh Manor) was used as the exterior of Tanaka's house. Kagoshima Prefecture was the location for various scenes depicting Little Nellie (see below).
Bond had missions in Brazil, Japan and Turkey, visited Madagascar, Mexico and Morocco – and even went to space. While other productions filmed in studios or their own backyard, EON always put Bond on the front line and went to real places around the world.
At Himeji Castle, Tiger shows the British agent the different training areas for these elite soldiers. James Bond will have to transform himself into a Japanese, marry a woman and learn to become a ninja among them.
'JAMES-BOND-ISLAND' lies within Phang-Nga Bay National Park. This extraordinary bay in Krabi Province, to the north-east of phu*ket, is the site of a multitude of peculiar shaped islands.
Skyfall (2012)
This is the place where Skyfall starring Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Javier Bardem was filmed at Hashima - Gunkanjima in , Japan.
Starring Daniel Craig as 007, Skyfall sees the secret agent returning to his Scottish roots, with the main part of the action taking place at Bond's family home, Skyfall Lodge, which is located in awe-inspiring Glen Coe. Keep reading to explore more Skyfall filming locations in Scotland.
Bond's most visited country is the USA, which he has been to in seven films (often to multiple locations).
Matera, a breathtakingly beautiful city in the region of Basilicata, which is also a Unesco World Heritage site, is a complex of cave dwellings. Situated on a rocky outcrop, this ancient city is known for having 1,500 cave dwellings inhabited by humans since the Paleolithic period.
James Bond Island, locally known as Khao Ping Kan, is located about 25 kilometres northeast of phu*ket Island, in the bay of Phang Nga. This unusual limestone rock formation is one of the many places in Phang Nga people have on their phu*ket must-see list.
Two scenes in SkyFall (2012) were filmed in the Four Seasons Hotel at Canary Wharf in London (update: now called the Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel).
Where is the Goldfinger island?
Khao Phing Kan (Thai: เขาพิงกัน, pronounced [kʰǎw pʰīŋ kān]) or Ko Khao Phing Kan (เกาะเขาพิงกัน, [kɔ̀ʔ kʰǎw pʰīŋ kān]) is an island in Thailand, in Phang Nga Bay northeast of phu*ket.
James Bond: Tomorrow never dies is the eighth spy movie in the famous James Bond series. Filmed in 1997, the production crew had chosen Halong Bay and Ho Chi Minh city as the shooting scenes. Long before Hollywood, Vietnam unique beauty has drew attention of foreign filmmakers.
James Bond Island is located in Phang Nga Bay and the local name of James Bond Island is Khao Phing Kan. Then why it is called James Bond Island, actually this name came after the shooting of the James Bond movie in 1974 “The Man With the Golden Gun”. After that, it became a famous tourist destination in Thailand.
The island reached a peak population of 5,259 in 1959. In 1974, with the coal reserves nearing depletion, the mine was closed and all of the residents departed soon after, leaving the island effectively abandoned for the following three decades.
Hizen Hashima Lighthouse
During this period, it is estimated that about 1,300 of those conscripted laborers died on the island due to various dangers, including underground accidents, exhaustion, and malnutrition.
Yes, the round trip to the island takes longer (as just going one-way can take up to an hour, depending on conditions), and while this may be a letdown for some, keep in mind that there's no other way you can see Gunkanjima. It's not like it's some tourist spot in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka that's easy to get to.
What does M stand for? M is the head of MI6 and stands for for "Missions" – to identify that the incumbent is the head of the Missions Department. M is not one character, but rather a role that has been held by various characters across the 25 films.
Sadly the Skyfall house didn't exist and was created as a film set in Surrey, England, on Department of Defence land, but if you continue along the road you might notice that one house does have a striking resemblance to the film!! It's private property, so be sure to keep out.
Principal photography began in August 2007 and lasted until May 2008, with filming locations including Mexico, Panama, Chile, Italy, Austria, and Wales, while interior sets were built and filmed at Pinewood Studios. The film's title is borrowed from a 1959 short story by Ian Fleming.

Grand Bazaar Istanbul, Turkey – Skyfall
Apparently Ian Fleming's favorite city, Istanbul, is one of the most iconic James Bond film locations.

Moore played the role more than any other actor, and thus his imprint on 007 is probably stronger than anyone else.
Hotel Bergland: Home of James Bond. Sölden and James Bond – the most glamorous winter hotspot in the Alps and the world's most famous secret agent are a match made in heaven.
Palais Schwarzenberg. The elegant and baroque hotel 'Im Palais Schwarzenberg' was Bond'& Kara's hotel in Vienna, in The Living Daylights.
The film Golden Eye features the most iconic James Bond scene that was filmed in Switzerland. The opening scene of the movie sees James Bond jumping from the Val Verzasca dam to escape from some Soviet agents.
Laughing Waters Beach
It's no wonder that one of Jamaica's most gorgeous beaches was featured in what is perhaps the most iconic Bond scene. You may recognize Laughing Waters Beach from the scene in “Dr. No,” when Ursula Andress rises out of the water and spots Sean Connery.
But while those disputed islands do actually exist, it turns out that the final Bond scenes were actually shot in the Faroe Islands, just 300 miles north of the Scottish coast. And the specific island in question? Kalsoy, a long, thin landmass nicknamed 'The Flute' by locals.
Cruise through the caves and beautiful limestone mountains that make up Phang Nga Bay. Visit the famous James Bond Island where you can swim, enjoy the scenery and re-enact your favorite scenes from the movie.

Where is the pool in Skyfall?
In Skyfall (2012), James Bond (Daniel Craig) is following a lead to Shanghai. We see him swimming in a futuristic looking pool area, Shanghai's skyline covered in darkness behind the glass wall panels. This was filmed at the Virgin Active Health Club, part of the hotel.
"Goldfinger" (1964)
The exterior of the real Fort Knox is shown in the movie, but all sets for the buildings' interiors were re-created at Pinewood Studios in England, according to movie-locations.com. "Goldfinger" was the first Bond film to receive an Academy Award, winning for Best Sound Effects Editing in 1965.
Yes -- Fort Knox in Kentucky! The Bluegrass State played a huge role in the film that catapulted Connery to true Hollywood stardom. Principal photography took place from January to July 1964 in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the United States.
Though the exterior of the real Fort Knox, Kentucky, south of Louisville near the Indiana border, is briefly seen, the fort was recreated at Black Park Woodland behind the studio at Pinewood.

The setting? Peahi, on the island of Maui in Hawaii. While the well-known Bond baddie Jaws doesn't make an appearance in this 007 movie, the Peahi surf break is fittingly known as Jaws. The waves at Peahi are considered to be the largest in the world, so this place is one of the top surfing destinations.

James Bond Island came into worldwide prominence in 1974 when it became one of the locations for the movie “The Man with the Golden Gun.” Thousands of tourists still visit this island, turning it into a pilgrimage for 007 fans and movie enthusiasts in general.
Some of the forced Korean laborers tried to escape from the island, also called “Prison Island” or “Hell Island,” to no avail. All the escapees either drowned, failing to reach land, or were captured by the Japanese. In reality, there is no record of workers who succeeded in breaking out from the island.
What is the largest abandoned island in the world?
Devon Island in the Arctic is the largest uninhabited island on Earth, and for good reason. With a polar-desert climate and barren, rocky terrain, which is frequently veiled in fog, this desolate landmass is hardly welcoming.
The dark side of Hashima Island
The buildings were built by Korean and Chinese prisoners who were forced to work here from 1930 to just after WWII. The conditions of these forced laborers were hard, and some never made it back home. The people who worked here named the island “Jail Island” or even “Hell Island”.
The Island reached peak population in 1887 with over 5000 inhabitants but after the mines closed in 1974, the residents soon left. Travel to Hashima has been reopened to tourists since 2009 and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site (as of 2015) as an important location during the Meiji Industrial revolution.
The real story of Hashima Island, which lies off the coast of Nagasaki in the East China Sea, is almost as dramatic. From the 1880s until 1974, when it was abruptly abandoned, the tiny island was a major Japanese coal mine, with tunnels stretching almost 2,000 feet under the earth.
When Korean workers quit or escaped, all of their savings were taken by their companies. Things on Hashima Island got even more miserable. Because escaping the island required swimming more than 18 kilometers, many who tried to flee drowned.
The war eventually came to an end following the bombing of Nagasaki at 11:02 am on August 9 1945. Despite its proximity to the city, Hashima suffered no damage as much of the bomb's effects were confined by hillsides to the narrow Urakami Valley with the radius of total destruction being 1 mile (1.6 km).
Beginning of Hashima Island and Mitsubishi Mining
Now abandoned, it was owned by Mitsubishi Mining Co., Ltd. (currently Mitsubishi Materials Corporation) and supported its coal mining business for over 100 years.
Hashima coal mining island is an artificial reclaimed island and the site of Japan's first major undersea coal exploitation (1890) pioneered by Mitsubishi - and host to one of the world's most extraordinary former mining communities.

Villa Le Torre, located near Talamone (6km), in Southern Tuscany, Italy, is featured in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Bond, after leaving the Tosca Opera in Bregenz, visits René Mathis (and his girlfriend) in this beautiful villa and asks him to come and help him in Bolivia.

Venture just 30 minutes outside of London and you'll find Denham Place, an astonishing Grade I-listed stately home.
The deserted island of Bond's adversary Silva in the movie SkyFall (2012), might seem the result of the writers' fantasy, but does actually exist. The island is called Hashima, and is located off the coast of Japan. In 1959, the island was one of the most densely populated areas on earth.
Glen Etive, "Skyfall" and the Ian Fleming Connection
The estate is now owned by the National Trust of Scotland but once belonged to the family of James Bond's creator, Ian Flemming.
Karlovy Vary was used as the exterior of the Casino Royale, with the Grandhotel Pupp serving as "Hotel Splendide". The main Italian location was Venice, where the majority of the film's ending is set. The scene with Bond on a sailboat was filmed aboard a 54-foot (16 m) yacht named Spirit.

James Bond visits the final resting place of Vesper at her grave on the outskirts of Matera. Located in Southern Italy, just on the arch at the bottom, close to the heel, it's the capital city of the province of Matera and it sits next to the Gravina River.
Hellman Hall is Baroness Von Hellman's lair situated in Suffolk, England. It became the infamous Hell Hall after Cruella removed "man" from the gate's title. Where was James Bond filmed in the Caribbean?
Thunderball — Paradise Island, Bahamas
As the story goes, the owner of Hog Island changed its name to Paradise Island and eventually allowed Bond producers Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman to film Thunderball on his section of the island, which is now home to The Atlantis Paradise Island.
