The location for Episode VI is the desert near Yuma on the Arizona / California border. Jabba the Hutt's huge (80 feet high, 212 feet long) hover barge was built at the Imperial Sand Dunes in Buttercup Valley, south of I-8, just to the west of Yuma.

While most of Tatooine was filmed in Tunisia's desert, two key locations were shot within 20 minutes of each other on the tropical island of Djerba: Obi Wan Kenobi's home and Mos Eisley spaceport.
Location shooting took place in the Tunisian desert, at the Plaza de España in Seville, London, China, Vancouver, San Diego, and Italy (Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como, and in the former royal Palace of Caserta).
Principal photography began on August 1, 2018, at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. Filming also took place in Wadi Rum, Jordan.

It's back to Tunisia for the 'Tatooine' scenes, this time at Tozeur – also a location for Anthony Minghella's The English Patient. Young Anakin's slave-quarter home is a ksar (originally a grain store) in Medenine, about 35 miles southeast of Matmata in southern Tunisia.
