Admission Requirements
Admission to the school is open to all applicants who have a high school diploma or equivalent. There is no minimum GPA requirement, but applicants must submit a personal essay and a resume. The Los Angeles Film School offers a two-year Associate of Science degree in Film and Entertainment.
There are many ways to learn the skills necessary for crafting compelling films. Some of our favorite directors started school then dropped out, while others are completely self-taught. Many of the best classic directors made their marks on film before film schools even existed.
Job #4 Script supervisor
Certainly one of the most taxing and demanding job on a film crew. Starting a few weeks before the shoot, this is the person who breaks down the script and prepares it for the schedule. A script supervisor also notes own all the director's thoughts about how each scene is going to be shot.
Tier 1 consists of major private research institutions like Yale, Johns Hopkins and New York University. Tier 2 schools are selective private liberal arts colleges like Middlebury and Vassar. Tier 3 are major public research universities, among them most of the University of California system.
In terms of transfer students for the Production BA, the age range is 20-40, with an average age of 25. For the grad students, I've met people ranging from 22-53. Don't trip on age, you'll fit right in. Also, you'll be much closer in age to the instructors, which, believe it or not, is an advantage.
